hybrid car benefit

New Hybrid Car

The Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) is one of the most recent of automotive technologies, barely a decade old and even much younger in global distribution.  But even with the technology in its infancy, new hybrid car models are popping out here and there, released by various car manufacturers and sold like hotcakes when they do hit the market.  Popularity of these HEV’s has brought about a newfound trend in investments, with people looking towards cleaner and greener solutions to help conserve fossil-fuel and the environment at the same time.

In 2008 and 2009

It seems that the years for the new hybrid cars will definitely be in 2008 and 2009 as companies are readying to release some of their newest hybrids in that year.  Models from top companies like Ford, Mercury, and Toyota are set to take the hybrid main stage as soon as 2008 hits.

2008 Ford Escape Hybrid

Sporting a 2.3 liter in-line engine, electric fuel capability and additional unleaded fuel capacity, the new hybrid from Ford will have a multi-point injection fuel system.  It will carry 15 gallons of unleaded fuel and have a maximum horsepower of 133.  Most of the cars plus factors will probably be found with the standard interior it will be sold with which will include all power windows and locks, climate control, etc. all dependent on the electric motor so that less gas is used as the car is operated.  This will definitely be a new hybrid car that SUV and crossover SUV-enthusiasts will enjoy in 2008.

2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid

With a larger demand for bigger cars in the US market, Mercury also takes the stand with their Mariner Hybrid.  A 2.3 liter engine that can do 153 horsepower maximum, this SUV can hold up to 16.5 gallons of main unleaded fuel and is a 4-speed automatic.  On the highway it is expected to do 23 miles to the gallon and 20 to the gallon in the city.

Chevy Malibu Hybrid

Surprisingly, Chevrolet is about to shock America by releasing a car with a very classic name: the Chevy Malibu.  This time around, it won’t be the large, American car that everybody is used to but the current concept is going to be much smaller.  The Malibu is expected to be much like the Aura Green Line series that GM has out in the market already.  So, with any luck, this should be out in 2008 or 2009, should have at least 164 horsepower or more like the Saturn Aura Green Line, and perhaps a 2.8 liter engine to boot.

2009 Toyota Prius

With the success of earlier Prius models, Toyota aims to release yet another to its hybrid line set for release in 2008 but will be considered a 2009 model.  Not much as been announced about the new hybrid but it may incorporate newer technologies that Toyota has yet to reveal that will improve the hybrid electric technology that exists today.  One thing is for sure; success will definitely follow Toyota’s new hybrid car release as they are the company that have had the most experience in the hybrid industry.
